Founders’ Day Celebrates 20 Years of AGS

On Wednesday, November 6, AGS celebrated our 20th Anniversary with an exciting Founders’ Day Assembly.  Atlanta City Councilperson J.P. Matzigkeit read a proclamation from the City of Atlanta declaring it Atlanta Girls’ School Day and Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms sent a video message congratulating the school on 20 years of inspiring girls to lead lives of purpose.

Co-Founders Emily Ellison and Brooke Weinmann participated in a panel discussion about the school along with Jennifer Halicki, a founding faculty member, Beth Kargel, the founding Director of Development, and Anna Pless Peel ’04, a founding student. The panel discussion was moderated by senior Madison Marsh. The event ended with the co-founders reading the Founders’ Charge.

Throughout the day, video messages of congratulations were shared on the AGS social media platforms such as Facebook, from female leaders from around Atlanta and the country. There are more 20th Anniversary celebrations planned throughout the school year.
