Numerous studies show that girls who participate in sports have higher grades, better school attendance, and great self-assurance.

More than 75% of AGS students play at least one sport.

With our opportunity-to-play policy in Middle School, every girl can learn skills, test herself, and benefit from the enduring lessons of athletics and athletic competitions.

Our athletic program operates on the principle that an athlete exists in each girl, and we seek to serve both the novice and proficient athlete. And just as our academic curriculum prepares our students to believe in their intellectual competence, our athletics program prepares them to believe in their physical competence. The winning edge comes from both the trained mind and trained body.

Belief in one’s competence is an essential ingredient for personal empowerment. Our student athletes exercise a great deal of discipline in their management of time for studies, practices, and games. The confidence gained through our athletics program allows our girls to be better prepared for both mental and physical competition.
