In addition to the required courses offered in the performing arts, students in all grades have the opportunity to participate and audition in a variety of ways that showcase and celebrate their theatrical talents—on stage and behind the scenes.
Fall Play Cast Takes 1st place at Regional One-Act Competition
The cast of our fall play, Twelve Angry Women, competed in the GISA Regional One-Act Play competition in November and won first place. Seniors Imani Guy Duckette and Zoe Webb both received a Best Actress award. Barbara Cole Uterhardt was the winner of the Best Director award.
Ms. Uterhardt and sophomore Erin Laurens worked to adapt the three-act play into the required one act, with additional narrative in order to tell the audience the complete story.
I once wanted to sing solos so I could impress people. At AGS, I learned that I wanted to perform with other people and that life was more meaningful when I wasn’t alone. I found my voice on the journey to graduation and shared it through a sport, on the piano, on stage and off, and with my family and friends. I even taught younger students how to listen to their own voices through my Capstone Project. I continued to share my voice in college at Georgia Tech and will for the rest of my life.Elizabeth Barsalou '11
