AGS Community Serves for MLK Day

To honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., communities all over the nation pledge to take a weekend “on,” not off. AGS students, families, faculty, and staff joined in the movement as they do every year to honor this legacy of service. 

Students were provided different opportunities to serve throughout the weekend, including: 

  • Books for Africa: Collecting books
  • Project Open Hand: Delivering meals and visiting clients
  • Central Night Shelter: Pack breakfast and lunch bags for 70 men staying at Central Night Shelter
  • AGS Clean-Up: Assorted areas around campus
  • Atlanta Mission: Help prepare, serve, and clean up lunch for men staying at Atlanta Mission
  • Campbell-Stone Assisted Living: Visit with residents and play bingo
  • MLK Day Drum Run: 5K along a drumline!
  • Onstage Atlanta: Organize costumes, props, set pieces; clean rehearsal space; perform basic landscaping/clean parking area
  • Park Pride – Historic Old Fourth Ward: Beautifying park by spreading mulch 
  • MedShare: Sort and pack medical supplies
  • Trees Atlanta: Planting seedlings
  • United Youth with United Way: Create pillow packs for children
