Guest Speaker and AGS Alum: Olivia Paige’12

Olivia Paige ’12 is an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. She works for the Communication, Partnerships and Policy Unit with the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch in the Division of Global Health Protection. She spoke with Upper School students about her time here at AGS and her work in global health. 

Olivia graduated from Atlanta Girls’ School in 2012. She credits participation in AGS’ Global Travel Program with igniting her passion for global health. Olivia received her B.S. in Sociology and Anthropology from Berry College in Rome. GA. Olivia studied abroad at the University of Hyderabad, India where she studied the factors that hinder girls’ education in rural and urban Telangana State. She returned to India for an internship with Apne Aap Women’s Collective, an organization working to prevent sex-trafficking in Mumbai’s red light district. Olivia recently graduated with her Master’s in Public Health in Global Health from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She has pursued research in areas of mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and violence in India, Haiti and within refugee communities in the United States. Olivia is passionate about global health communications and has utilized her communication skills to benefit a variety of projects and programs. Olivia is currently providing communications support to a maternal mortality survey among the Rohingya refugee population in Bangladesh. In her free time, Olivia volunteers with organizations serving the Clarkston, GA refugee community.
