Geometry on Wheels

Ms. Boudreau’s geometry students have spent several weeks assessing how to design a playground. In November students had a chance to step into the shoes of their clients in hopes of a better designed and accessible playground for all. The students all used wheelchairs, walkers, ear plugs, and modified glasses throughout the project, which helped them experience the world the way some of their clients might and to develop empathy for the way someone with a physical difference moves through a day.

Ms. Boudreau is “enthusiastic about what this could teach girls, even those who are not directly participating. While Geometry students will create more robust designs as a result of these days, perhaps other students will gain understanding and awareness” as well.
