AGS Science and Engineering Fair Award Winners Advance to Atlanta Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Last Friday AGS hosted the Science and Engineering Fair. Parents, teachers, fellow students and judges from the community were all impressed with the joy, authenticity and purposeful work of our students. During last week’s assembly students with the most innovative projects, those with the best science process, and the students with the best teamwork and growth mindset were honored. Sydney Menzie, Sydney Killian, Marley Irving, Jamison Shears, Abby Cibik, Jasmine Smith, and Bella Huang were recognized for developing the strongest projects in their grade level. Of the 79 projects submitted to the Science and Engineering Fair, 9th graders Katherine Beltrami and Sofia Lowe took third place overall, while second place overall was a tie between 8th grader Malak Desouky and 6th graders Harper Hudephol and Lyric Simone Ngcobo. The winners of the 2019 Science and Engineering Fair are Tess Freyaldenhoven and Riley Fishman for their project “Plastic Pollution – It May Be Ruining Our Precious Aquatic Plants”. All of these students will represent AGS at the Atlanta Regional Science and Engineering Fair on January 30th.
