Rachel Platt ’16

Rachel Platt is a January 2016 Hurricane of the Month.

Rachel is a 12th grader who is very involved in Fine Arts. She has participated in singing and drama as long as she can remember. Her first musical was when she was in 3rd grade. Mrs. Uterhardt is proud of Rachel’s loyalty to the drama department: “Rachel is known at AGS for her roles in plays and musicals, as well as leading our fabulous a capella group. And who could forget those many times she has entertained the student body with her original songs on piano? However, her passion for working with young children in music and performing is how she spends her weekends and summers. We know she will find a career using her many passions.” When asked why she enjoys performing Rachel said, “I have always loved singing and acting not only as a fun way to express myself, but also because of the vibrant, inclusive personalities within the arts community. I receive so much joy from working with my cast in a show or with the ensemble of Category 5 because of the amazing and talented performers that I get to work with. I value my education in music and theater because in becoming a performer, I gain so much self-confidence, which has really helped in the class room and in my internships.”

Keep up the hard work, and congratulations on being January’s Hurricane of the Month, Rachel!
