Amoy Walker named Middle School Teacher of the Year by GISA

Congratulations to Atlanta Girls’ School teacher Amoy Walker who was recently named the Georgia Independent School Association’s (GISA) Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2019-20. The GISA Teacher of the Year Award is a tremendous honor with 165 other schools vying for this opportunity. Each year, the award is given to a teacher who has demonstrated outstanding teaching and service in the upper school, middle school, or lower school.
Amoy Walker joined AGS in 2019 and was drawn to AGS because of the school’s mission to partner with girls on their journey to being well-rounded, lifelong learners and effective problem solvers. “I firmly believe in the [AGS] philosophy of “every child, every day.” This means that regardless of a student’s socio-economic status, language, learning ability, or race, when they arrive at AGS they receive the skills and supports needed to live a dignified and satisfied life. AGS is truly special in that each student and community member is encouraged to lead a life of purpose.”
