Alumna Named an Oprah Leadership Scholar

Mikhaila Doyle, a 2021 graduate of Atlanta Girls’ School, received a special surprise one day when she thought she was interviewing for a scholarship over Zoom: Oprah Winfrey herself joined the Zoom meeting and told Mikhaila and 14 others that they had been named to the inaugural class of Oprah Winfrey Leadership Scholars.

The Oprah Winfrey Leaders Scholarship (OWLS) program supports academically gifted students who demonstrate leadership in their communities. The program includes four years of scholarship support and creates a network between the students and offers unique access to speakers and thought leaders in various fields. This network is designed to offer insight, inspiration, and mentor support to encourage the OWLS throughout their academic journeys and beyond. Scholarships are funded by the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation, with collaboration from the Herrendorf Family Foundation.

Mikhaila is attending Brown University. You can watch the full video of the OWLS announcement here.
