Mid-life brought a career change to clinical nutrition after she earned a Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health at Maryland University of Integrative Health. She achieved the Certified Nutrition Specialist designation awarded by the board of the American Nutrition Association.

Mary Virginia and her husband, Peter, have four AGS daughters: Sophie ‘13, Emma ‘16, Faith ‘18, and Clare ‘20. She served on the Board of Trustees from 2003-2009, chairing the PR & Marketing Committee, the Head Search Committee, and serving as vice president. As an AGS parent, she held a variety of leadership positions on the AGS Parents’ Circle, including co-president, and participated in the founding of Hurricane Watch, Eye of the Storm, and Men of AGS.
